Those who have Get Lifted will be surprised at the turns this CD made. Give it a chance people. Trust me it gets better with each listen. The standout song is Slow Dance. Was this review helpful? The first time you hear it...its....like...what the hell! What happened! Give it a chance. It gets better with each listen. Get lifted 2 it's not. Its 5 steps ahead. Was this review helpful? Well, no harm done I guess. Thus we have Gerald Leverts final CD {In My Songs}. But now a days, an artist final CD will not, in all likelyhood be their final CD.{Think Tpac} I have the strongest feeling (The Best of Gerald Levert} or {Gerald Levert:the lost songs} will hit the Virgin Mega Store within a year or two. But for now, sit back and enjoy Gerald finest CD since Geralds World. In My Songs takes up back to what G does best. SANG! Where Do I speak For The World lacked, {Songs} more than makes up for. The ballads shine the brightest here. The {midtempo songs are okay} but for the Levert we've grew to love over the years, the slow jams are where its at. Not as good as Geralds World, but better than Do I speak For The World, In My Songs is the perfect ending to a life that was anything but. Was this review helpful? Well, my people!!! (Album II) is just as good, (but not better) than his first. I dont know! He kinda brings to mind a male version of Sade, but with prettier eyes! Cant Stop Loving You the first single may very well be the best song on the CD! Ballad heavy to say the lease. But the ballads are what works! The uptempo songs... Well, mabe not as much. But there are enough slow jams to keep us happy until Kems next effort! Was this review helpful? But why make his death(so called 10th anniversary) a reason for the release date of this album? Why put out a greatest hits CD when some of his BEST song are missing? Why fnd the worst photo in the bunch for his CD cover? Answer to all those questions, thats just how it is? As a whole, this collection is just right for (REAL) Biggie fans. But for those of us who are (JUST) fans. Well, some of his best recording can be heard on( Born Again.) Was this review helpful? OH has he grown since then!(Journey Of A Gemini) shown the growth of a man whos had hard times over the years,(between CDS.) (Life Goes On) stood as his best, of course until now! As other reviewer stated, all songs 1 to 15 are worth a listen. Just press play, and go away. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Being the last review written for this CD was 2002, what are the odds of anybody reading my most recent review in 2007? (NONE!) At any rate, one of Geralds gem is Groove On! Songs 5 thru 10 speak volume in the Levert love machine, Listen, enjoy! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful I hard to tell which movie Eddie made first. Dreamgirls, or this early year piece of fluff! Now just because Dream came out first, doesnt mean Norbit was made second. Who knows how long Norbit sat on the shelf before it came out. reguardless, dont let this piece of (for letter word) erase the fact that hes up for best S. actor this year..... And if he wins, which he will! Norbit will be a long forgotten memory! Unless Notbit 2 haunts us next year! Was this review helpful? Like countless other unknowing radio listeners, I thought, or assumed (Thicke) was black. To my surprise when I looked for his video on Youtube, what did I see? Nothing! I was looking for a black man. THAN I saw this white guy singing that very song on a late night talk show! My first thjought was,(Damn!!) My second thought! So what if hes white! ( Lost Without You) is the best (love song) to come out in a long time! And as for (The Evolution Of Robin Thicke) as a whole. Itll suite me fine as well as surprise others not know who this guy is. Robin has just as much (soul) as these other, uh, soul singers of the moment.(Ice Box) be damned! Was this review helpful? (Wack) hip hop CD in all his years. Just not as good as (Nip Hop Is Dead.) Or (Stilmatic) for that matter. Better than his last effort, (what was the name of that anyway?(HHISD) is no (Stilmatic) But the way this CD seems to flow, who would know the diffrance? The songs (Not Going Back) and (Still Dreaming) are standouts! Is hip hop dead? Does anybody really care? Was this review helpful? Not in ever case mind you!(Remember ROOTS!) But THIS gotdamnit is NO ROOTS. I first read the book of (The Night Listener) and was surprised by how much I liked the story,(such as it is.) But on screen! I dont know, something is just..... missing. Too many changes made. If you didnt read the book, you dont have a clue as to what Im talking about! Robin Williams is O.K in the title role of a radio talk show host, and the trials of his out of sync state of being. This film is not as bad as most reviewers here made it out to be! Or could it have be the shot of gin I have before seeing it?! The book caused a mini stir upon it release, and was a New York Times best seller. I Was this review helpful? Im Still In Love With You is what real music should sound like. Not enough space here to praise track for track, but track for track, this stands as the master of all pieces! Not a note is wasted. When Al confesses(Ive been cryin) you can feel ever letter of every word in the depts of your soul. Was this review helpful? Done to death years ago,(need I bring up titles) this utter piece of (Four letter word) just proves that the first two months of the year are dumping grounds for bad movies. I long for the day that we get a worth wild, um, (spoof) movie such as, ooh, (Airplane) way back when! Until then! (Epic Movie!) Oh, never mind!!!! Was this review helpful? What makes this CD stand tall above the rest? (This Use To Be My Playground) and (I Will Remember.) (Take a Bow) co written my Babyface is my fav. Madonna song, but its follow up,(Youll See)......... well, cant win em all! Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful No song tugs at the heart strings, or make you think more about the things you have in life, or the things that are missing like Michael Bubbles (HOME.) Without being over done or sappy, this song is capible of bringing a tear to the corner of your right eye! Not an all out ball cry- just enough to make you almost go there.....A simple song about a man who seems to have it all, but longing to go to a place like no other..... (HOME!) One of the best of 2005 Was this review helpful? Sign In |
