I almost walked out in the beginning. Some redeeming qualities with the plot in the second half. Kevin Spacey is the computer voice, and not a human character. Don't spend a lot of money to see it. In contrast, Star Trek was excellent.

Based on a true story and definitley best picture of the year. Most likely Oscars for some of the actors. True Grit was excellent but this film, contrary to my estimation before watching it, was even better. It's a sleeper, but the theatre was sold out and I had trouble finding a seat. You will not be disappointed!!!! A great story.

Its what you might expect given the coming attractions but never the less, it was interesting, and great for younger children who see the stars. The actors were tops and made a story that lacked some credulity, worthwhile to see. I actually would rate it 3 and a half stars but that wasnt an option.

An excellent face-paced suspenseful story, especially for the history and military channel buffs, that keeps you on the edge of your seat, even if you know the historical outcome. Tom Crew's acting is as good as his performance in Rain Man. Definitely worth seeing (I almost feel asleep in the Ben Button movie-another chick flick).

An interesting idea coupled with Brad Pitt's finest performance. But unfortunately the saga never blossems into a great movie. Another "English Patient" film, actually somewhat better, with a slow and drawn out love story, although it does have some finer moments. Probably more preferred by women, than men who got upset when Jim Brown was killed at the end of the "Dirty Dozen."

I wrote a previous review and gave the movie three stars, decribing it as a somewhat slow plot with great acting. But while looking for something to do on another day, I went to see it again. This time, knowing it wasn't exactly a page turner, but on the other hand, it's not an "English Patient (over three hours of drudgery!!!)" either, I enjoyed and appreciated the film a lot more. Great vocals, even if you don't love country music, and I can't say I'm a fan, other than enjoying the famous hits that crossed the country-pop boundary, like Ring-of-Fire, Picture, and others of that caliber.

When I played football in HS, my coach used to say, "Success is not in never falling but in rising every time you fall." When the Packers were crushing the NY Giants in the NFL championship, I learned that Vince Lombardi said it also. But even later, I learned that it came originally from Confucius. That saying is what this excellent and wonderful movie is all about.

Another incredulous scene in the beginning like in Casino Royale. Late with plot development and clarity, but it improves if you are patient. The acting is good and I would rate it a B-/B film. You could wait to watch the DVD when it comes out. Some interesting iPhone like tech scenes on giant screens. But all and all, too much with action attempting to make up for a lack of plot and suspence.

Definitely worth seeing, either if you have children or if they are grown and away, and you forgot what it was like when you took the youngsters. An enjoyable story for the young at heart.

While I believe that critics are often inaccurate (although 104 on Rotten Tomatoes!!!), and that user reviews (66 on Rotten Tomatoes-seems about right) are often more reliable, I do agree with Kat Murphy on this one. And unlike Seabiscut, the movie seems to have missed its mark. It was just sort of bland+ The screenplay not only lacked intensity but also removed dimension from the excellent cast. Whoever added the music at the end of the last race should return to film school. If you want more excitement then just listen to the actual commentary on the Youtube video clip. 1973 Belmont. While hindsight is perfect, they should have used or duplicated that.
