Guns N Roses, following the immense success of Appetite for Destruction, released this 8 song CD almost as a way to tide fans over until 93s Use Your Illusions were released. The first four songs on this release are re-releases of the GNR EP Live Like a Suicide, metal-rock songs that are true to the bands performances in 86, as night club performers. The last four songs are acoustics, including the single Patience and a remake of Your Crazy. The other two acoustics are Used to Love Her and One In a Million. Used to Love Her is almost a joke, but the viciousness of One In a Million is hard to forget. Containing the most racial prejuidice in any GNR title, One in a Million carries references to African Americans, Immigrants, Religions, and police, amongs others. It is almost as if Axl and the band were trying to stir up contraversy with this title. While this is not a 5-star creation like Appetite was, Lies is a good addition for those wanting to see a different side of Guns N Roses with their acoustics, for those who wish to listen to their pre-stardom perfomances, or who are collecting all of the GNR albums.

Appetite for Destruction, Guns N Roses debut album, is very easily the best album from the late 80s, early 90s era. Vocalist Axl Rose takes rock and roll to new levels with his tales of sex, drugs, and surviving in the city. Guitarists Slash and Izzy Stradlin add an extra layer of depth to the songs Rose sings, with powerful solos and easily recognizable tunes that have become commonplace on radios and commercials. Bassist Duff McKagan and drum player Steven Adler also perform their parts top-notch. From the hard rocking Nightrain to the passionate Sweet Child O Mine, its clear that the band was well in tune with their music. The classics Paradise City and Welcome to the Jungle are also highlights on the album, along with the heroin-based Mr. Brownstone and the sex-driven Anything Goes. Appetite was, and is, one of the premire rock albums, the best of a band that ruled all back in its day. This is one album that cannot be missed.
