I will be 70 next month. My family returned to the south after living in Denver for nine years. I had never known segregation in my memory. As a young girl I was horrified when I got off the plane. Separate everything. My birth city, in the south, was not as bad as the movie expressed, but those I met from Mississippi and neighboring states, told of stories such as seen in The Help. The performances, the scenery, the writing were so much a part of the reality of the times, I was amazed. My grand daughter, 16, saw it with me after we had spent the morning watching the 9-11 memorial. After the movie, I said to her that she had experienced a day that would teach her what hate can result in.

Those who connect with this movie (and the book) are people who are seeking spiritual enlightenment and/or have open minds. No one could play the part, of Liz Gilbert, as well as Julia Roberts. Great all around casting! The movie was superb to the three generations, of my family, who saw the movie together last Friday. A beautiful story, beautifully done.
