Posted: 10/2/2005A review of The Best Man by mzsunshine8
This movie is very entertaining as college friends reunite for Lance(Morris Chestnutt) & Mia's(Monica Calhoun) wedding. Taye Diggs plays Harper Stewart or the Best Man. He is also an up and coming writer who writes his first novel based on his college experiences which contains all sorts of skeletons that are not supposed to be revealed until after the big wedding, however, Jordan (Nia Long) gets her hands on an advanced copy and its up to Harper to keep Lance from reading the book until after the wedding. The movie depicts how friends deal with the harsh reality of life and good friends help each other through hard times. Quentin (Terrance Howard) is too cool & Murch (Harlod Perrineau) is adorable. I loved the character development of Harper, Jordan, Murch, & Lance. Great bachelor party and wedding scenes. Casting was excellent as all portrayed successful & beautiful. If you liked the Big Chill you will like this one.

Posted: 3/9/2003A review of Carlito's Way by mzsunshine8
";Remember me? Benny Blanco, from the Bronx";... It's probably the most memorable and most important line from the movie. Al Pacino is in fine form in his role as Carlito Brigante who was just released from prison after serving only 5 years of a 30 year sentence. He feels truly blessed and extremely grateful as he vows to give up living on the wild side. But everyone that knew him before he went to prison finds that hard to believe and they do their best to try and bring him down again. Carlito stays true to himself and keeps straight until his scumbag lawyer(Dave Klienfeld, played by Sean Penn) manipulates him into his crooked world. Sean Penn portrays his character brilliantly as he uses the genuine affection that Carlito feels for him to his advantage. Penelope Ann Cruz gives a wonderful performance as Gail, Carito's devoted girlfriend, who desperately wants her guy to walk away from Kleinfeld before something terrible happens. Every scene and every character in this movie is performed to perfection. The movie takes place in 1975, therefore the music score is outstanding... A must see.

Posted: 11/8/2003A review of Scarface by mzsunshine8
They just don't make movies like this anymore. Al Pacino plays the gangster roll to a tee. One of my favorite scenes is when he is drunk in the restaurant and he delivers the 'bad guy' speech. My favorite quote from the movie is: 'I always tell the truth, even when I lie.' This tells you what kind of guy Tony Montana is...fearless and ruthless. Michelle Pfeiffer is excellent as well as her character doesn't take any nonsense from Tony...She wasn't afraid to express herself around him at all...His right hand guy, Manolo, was outstanding in the supporting roll. Superb performances by all, especially Pacino. One of the greatest endings of all time. A must see and must own film.

This is an awesome movie...one with an excellent plot, and terrific acting...Clint Eastwood plays a veteran Secret Service agent who began his career during the Kennedy years...He frequently has recurring thoughts about the day Kennedy was assassinated and wonders what could have been done differently...Meanwhile, a pschopathic ex-war veteran(John Malkovich) has his sights on killing the current president and plays a cat and mouse game with Eastwood's character...Malkovich is terrific in this type of role...His character is extemely intelligent and cunning as he strives to keep one step ahead of Eastwood... Great twists and turns throughout the movie and a climatic ending...

This movie was great! Lots of action including martial arts and super special effects. Frankie Muniz and Hilary Duff were terrific together...My favorite part was when they assembled a team of experts for Cody to teach him how to talk to a girl...That part was hilarious!...Frankie Muniz is so adorable...Go see for yourself!

When I was waiting to see Head of State, this movie was part of the previews...If this wasn't the dumbest, lamest, crappiest piece of film I have ever seen, then I don't know what is...I said to the people I was with, ";hey we just saw the whole movie in the preview!"; Trust me people don't waste your time with this one...It's not worth your precious time...Watching paint dry is entertaining than this! There is no such thing as ";acting Black"; just like there is no such thing as ";Acting White";...We are all products of our environment...so let's stop sterotyping everyone...please I can't take it anymore! Not worth even a quarter star!

What a show! I've watched every single one from beginning to end...Evan Marriott was so charming and treated all the the girls like a perfect gentleman! So what he's not the smartest guy in the world...he's not the dumbest either as proven by picking Zora in the end...She is a real woman in every sense of the word, and such a saint...I think she was kind of disappointed when the show gave them the million $ as Evan's face changed totally...True, he liked her because she was not a golddigger, but he's not going to stick around with one girl because of this money...I think he's gone completely Hollywood...Good luck to Zora in finding true love...just like some women, men can be golddiggers, too.

The plot and storyline in this movie is weak and lame but who cares...To see 3 of Hollywood's macho men in full drag is funny as hell!...Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, and John Leguizamo are hilarious in this! They are so convincing as drag queens you can't help but laugh...My favorite part is all the dialogue between them as they get into constant arguments during their roadtrip to California...The outfits are amazing and their makeup is impecable...Light hearted entertainment...You gotta see it for yourself.

Posted: 10/8/2005A review of High Fidelity by mzsunshine8
High Fidelity is very refreshing as 30 something Rob (John Cusack) invites the audience into his crumbling lovelife. I love the way Rob narrates the story by talking directly to the camera making us feel like we're his best friend. All of us can relate when Rob is in the middle of breaking up with his girlfriend Laura (Iben) which forces him to examine his all time top five relationship breakups. My favorite line by Laura as she is packing her things is 'I've changed, Rob....and you haven't changed so much as a pair of socks through the years.' And just when Rob is at his lowest point, along comes Barry (Jack Black) who plays Rob's high strung, don't give a damn about anything(except his kind of music) friend and employee. He is hialarious and steals the show from his first appearance with the Monday morning tape and "special" dance. As other viewers have stated, these two actors are excellent together therefore deserves 5 stars.

Posted: 8/5/2003A review of Ferris Bueller's Day Off by mzsunshine8
For anyone who has ever &quot;ditched&quot; or thought about &quot;ditching&quot; school(When I went to school we said &quot;skipped&quot;) this movie is for you...Ferris is the coolest senior in his school and is revered by the entire student body...This guy, his girlfriend and his best friend really know how to make the most of their day off...they eat in the finest restaurant, go to a cubs game, art museum and participate in the St. Patrick's Day parade...my favorite scene is, of course, when Ferris sings to &quot;Twist and Shout&quot; and has the whole city rockin! <br>The movie is hilarious as it depicts the painfully boring teachers and Mr. Rooney, Dean of Students determined to bust Ferris' scheme and make an example out of him...

A beautiful and romantic story about a handsome, young priest named Ralph DeBricassart(Richard Chamberlain), looking to fulfil his soul with God and the Church by working to gain the powerful position of Archbishop Cardinal. The story begins in 1920 Australia where the young priest has just been assigned to work. He meets and befriends an elderly and wealthy woman named Mary Carson(Barbara Stanwyck) who develops a strong attraction toward him and lets him know it every time she sees him...He's not interested, of course, and he make sures she knows that his heart is with God and the Church... When Mary dies she leaves the bulk of her wealth to the Catholic Church with Father Ralph as the Personal Representative and 20% to her brother and his family. To make a long story short, Father RAlph takes a special interest in Mary's niece, a little girl(Sydney Penny as a child and Rachel Ward as an adult) who is neglected by her family. His interest in her is purely innocent...he only wants to protect her from life's painful blows and challenges...until she blossoms into a strikingly beautiful young woman, the two of them develop a love for one another unlike no other which continues to challenge Father Ralph's decision to remain with the church. The story starts in 1920 and ends in 1962 and is wonderfully portrayed by all the actors involved...A story that one can easily get lost into...Destined to be a timeless classic...

Posted: 3/16/2003A review of The Big Chill by mzsunshine8
If you are going to see this movie, you have to be at least 30 something to appreciate it. It's about 7 people who were best friends in college and are reunited for a funeral when one of the old gang commits suicide. Even though they all have gone their separate ways, the bonds that were formed during college have never broken. This comedy-drama is very entertaining as the friends try to figure out why their collegue took his own life as they try to validate their own existence and purpose. I love the scene when they finish dinner one night and they start dancing to 'Aint to Proud to Beg' by the Temtations. It shows so much comradery. The acting is great but the movie would be nothing without the magnificent soundtrack. Motown has never sounded better.
