Connery as usual is flawless and I thought Robert Shaw was very good as the henchman, though Rosa Klebb isn't the best or most intimidating villain out there, even if she does have a poisonous knife coming out of her shoe. This film is not very exaggerated, and is more tense and intriguing, especially the section on the train(One of those times when Bond's gadgets really helped). This is a very good quality because some of the other Bond films are a bit over the top in my view. A classic spy story in the middle of the cold war, the only bad point being the climax, or lack of one. Overall very good.

This film is truly a masterpiece. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman were great and delivered perfect performances. Andy is sent to prison for life, and thus begins his journey which is an uphill struggle all the way. It's a very moving film, told from the perspective of Red, another convicted murderer and Andy's best friend, whose first impression of Andy is that a stiff breeze would blow him over. As time progresses though, Andy's values of hope have an impact on red who develops a better understanding and different perspective on things. When I first saw it, I was overwhelmed. It should have done way better in the oscars. This is one of the best films I have ever seen and would strongly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Arguably the two greatest actors around in the same film and they didn't disappoint. The film gets five stars for its story, the way it shows the common sacrafices that the cop and conman have had to make along their opposite and conflicting journeys, leading to mutual respect. Brilliant from start to finish.

Not much wrong with this as a bond film, - exotic locations, gadgets, beautiful girls, plenty of action, and a villain with evil intentions - except for one little thing - you aint supposed to feel sorry for Bond's enemies, but when this film is over, you will. That said, it's still a good film with a great story, -and an excellent boat chase at the start. It's also Desmond Llewellan's last appearance as 'Q'. So still worth watching...

The cast and story made this film unforgettable and incomparable to any other. Madsen is masterful, Buscemi brilliant. That famous torture scene i'll never forget. very graphically violent though, not everyone's cup of tea but certainly mine!!!

For Bond fans, a great aspect of this film is the ludicrous plot where, as expected of Bond films, an ego maniac seeks immense power at any cost. To start a war for news tv ratings, this plot could only be from a 007 film. Pryce plays Carver brilliantly, but my favourite enemy is Dr. Koffman, Stamper's role model. The girls aren't bad either. As usual there are great vehicle chases, I don't know which is better; the one with the motorbike or the one with the BMW??!! You decide! The first Bond film where the girl isn't just there to look pretty, if you start watching this film, you won't turn it off.

Not much of a plot here, basically the whole film is leading up to a dual between Bond and Christopher Lee, who plays Scaramanga, the 3-nippled assassin, easily in the top 5 as far as Bond villains go. Nicnac still stands out as a pesky sidekick, the girl was cute too. The film boasts one of the most amazing stunts I have ever seen in a Bond film, which must have been a first back in the 70's, involving a car crossing a canal, NOT via a bridge. You have to see to believe. The classic duel at the end is excellent, one of the better confrontations in the Bond series.

Posted: 12/2/2002A review of Goldfinger by nazdarovya
This Bond film, more so than other Connery or subsequent Bond films, introduced fear to the audience. Anybody who gets in Auric Goldfinger's way, or does something against his wishes(male or female) is killed with vicious brutality, no questions asked. And unlike other movies, Bond usually doesn't have a chance to save them. The ever efficient Oddjob does the dirty work in effortless ease, a scary thought, and the lasting image from this film for me, is Oddjob making a kill with his hat as the victim tries in vain to run away. The classic laser scene comes a close second. Bond has to be resourceful to outsmart Goldfinger, who has been planning a raid on Fort Knox for years.... If you haven't seen this one, then shame on you!

How many films feature vast police forces on skis or in jeeps chasing a couple, who are going down a mountain on.... a cello-case?! Not many, but then again, this is Bond. Extravagant scenes like this are what make 007 films so popular. The plot is good and centers mainly around the lovely Kara, and a defecting Russian General Koskov. One of the enemy henchmen(the big blond chap) is very impressive and gives Dalton a good run for his money. Plenty of action, Dalton wasn't phased and was comfortable playing 007. He introduced a new Bond to the audience, a little more serious than previous actors, a good thing in my view. An intriguing film, which is hard to predict at first. Certainly worth watching.

This actually isn't a bad film despite what many have said about it or about Lazenby. Arch nemesis Blofeld, the ultimate villain who always gets away in the end is back to create havoc, and will stop only in exchange for immunity, or so he says. Bond has a unique relationship with Tracy, who unlike the other Bond girls, is emotionally vulnerable. Opposites attract, and Bond gets more involved than what would be comfortable. Good plot, watch out for the evil baroness too. This film, and dare i say Lazenby's potential success as 007, was only ruined by the uncharacteristic ending.

Posted: 11/25/2002A review of Die Another Day by nazdarovya
I was literally the first person through the door, when 'Die Another Day' premiered in Dublin last week, waiting to see if my all time favourite of GoldenEye would be beaten by the latest instalment of Bond mayhem. It wasn't, but this movie was far from bad. Without giving too much away, I think the pre-title sequence, was the best of any bond film, with an interesting and unexpected twist of fate for 007, which will have the viewer intrigued for the rest of the film. Then the music comes on, with the customary female dancers serving only as decoration for unique images of 007 himself as a mis-treated prisoner. I was asking myself, ";is this gonna be another 'Licence To Kill' in terms of violence?!"; Thankfully not, as you'll soon see, all the makings of a great bond movie are there for all to see: beautiful girls, great gadgets, vehicle chases galore, and of course, an evil maniac trying to control the universe!! Even Michael Madson is in the movie! Also, the film is very funny in places,- a wheelchair scene, moneypenny's moment, and Bond walking into a posh hotel looking far from his normal self, spring to mind. There are more bond films worse than there are better. A must see, seriously!

I was initially hesitant to watch this film, thinking it would be childish and stupid. But then I actually watched it, and was so impressed i got the box-set. It is a fantastic story, and for such a long film, you barely notice time ticking away, such is its level of quality. A great cast, superb special effects, great screenplay, acting.... great everything!! Its like a mobile phone, - you don't realise what your missing out on until you actually try it yourslef. I strongly recommend. All ages will love this film (and subsequent ones too of course).

Braveheart meets Dances With Wolves. If you liked these then this one is more of the same stuff. Cruise is very good, Watanabe excellent. A compelling story well told.

Christopher Walken saves this film, Moore can perform incredible stunts at his age can't he?!! Tanya plays the dumb blonde to perfection. The fire truck scene and GGbridge scene are the best from this film. There are better Bond films out there, but being the Bond nut that I am I loved it anyway. Mayday remains a memorable villain too. Another rare good point is that the stunts aren't too over the top and just about believable, and the soundtrack is one of the best. Not bad, but not Moore's best Bond film either.
