The first hour was an excellent film. Since it was a remake, it was great spending time with the development of Peter into Spider-man. If they would cut out or shorten some of action sequences in the second hour this would make a great love story. The relationship between Gwen and Peter is what drives this movie and they should have spent more time with that. The bad guy {Lizard man] really asn't bad enough. Lazy story development on that end. As an action movie the Avengers was much better, but if they turned this into more of a romantic action movie it would move from Excellent to Great.
