First, it was a great history lesson highlighting Blues, Rock N Roll, legends, as well as sharing a little of the 50's, 60's and early 70's Chicago lifestyle and eras. Each actor did a marvelous job portraying their characters. Cudos to all of them, their performances took you right there. Bravo to: Adrian Brody as Leonard,
Jeffrey as Muddy, Columbus as Little Walter, Mos Def and Chuck Berry, Howling Wolf character, and Beyonce as Etta James, even Cedric the entertainer as narrator explained the story. Everyone I know that saw this movie absolutely loved it. I wouldn't mind seeing it again and highly recommend it to music lovers and nostalgia lovers.

I took my twelve year old granddaughter to see the movie and see thought it was great. The previews were a bit misleading. However, since she is 12 she did not understand the racism. Subsequently, it was a chance for me to explain the history of the civil rights movement to her and how it affected people especially in the South. Both my grand daughter and I truly enjoyed the movie. She said it was her second favorite movie. Dreamgirls is her first(and we see a lot of movies). I do not agree with the critics ratings and I highly recommend it. Was this review helpful? When I first viewed the trailers and previews I thought the movie focused on the younger characters. Much to my surprise Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard stole the show. Consequently, all the actors gave great performances esp. Sanaa Lathan...she is becoming quite the Diva villain type!!
Congratulations to Tyler Perry and the total cast. Truly an excellent, must see, enlightening, enjoyable movie. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-3 of 3 Per Page |
