First of all, Wison H.S. is 33.2 White, 36.4 Hispanic, and 15.4 African American. Wilson was just named in the May 2006 issue of Newsweek as being in the top 5 percent of all high schools (academically) in America. Other high schools would LOVE to be on that list. My son who now attends elementary school in Long Beach, where the enrollment is 79.2 white (I am not white, by the way) will be attending Wilson one day, as well as many other children who come from very respectable families. Those are NOT the statitistics of an inner-city school. There are definitely some very bad parts of LB, however the city is HUGE, just like any major city and is divided into many different neighborhoods. The area where I live is an upscale area to say the least, with the average home costing no less than 700,000 for a small 2 bedroom! Long Beach is beautiful, diverse, full of culture and all you have to do is a Google search to see the truth about this great and unique city. Long Beach is made up of every race under the sun, and everyone lives side by side and with open minds and open hearts. By the way, even in the so-called ghetto, the average home will run you at least 400,000 for a fixer upper. Most Americans who live in homes that cost 400,000 are considered very middle class and not at the poverty level as the movie portrays. GET IT STRAIGHT HOLLYWOOD!!! FYI this system would not allow me to use percentage and money signs in case you were thinking I didnt know they were needed. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-1 of 1 Per Page |
