Unless the parents have their kids homeschooled, not watch any type of mass media, the kids are going to get spoon fed a ton of garbage every day whether on the tube, at school, etc. When all you see everywhere on a frigging screen is junk, filth, or violence, even a rather involved parent can find himself herself taking a back seat to what their kids watch or are exposed to through friends, school, etc. I hope the movie bombs, just for the fact that it looks like a 2007 rendition of Revenge of the Nerds meets Porky's American Pie. Lame ass stuff. No original thinking at all anymore in Hollywood, just recycled storylines that are crap. Was this review helpful? Quick paced thriller, action, car chases, well written story, great acting. Can't beat it!!!!! Was this review helpful? What a summer of underachievement with regards to hollywood!!!!!! 300 has been the only kick ass movie so far in terms of both cinematography and $$$$$$. Everyone seems to be let down as this movie doesn't stay true to the book and as a result is a choppy piece of crap!!!!! These movie folks are funny with giving these 5 star reviews as usual to try and salvage yet another crappy film this summer. Earth to Hollywood, please give us something that isn't about a damn comic, toy, or a book. We need a new Matrix!!!!!!!! Was this review helpful? My point is that the movie only garnered $54 million the first weekend. Spidey 3( weakest of the 3) crushed that figure on opening weekend, so did Pirates which underperformed at the box office. I saw Spidey 3 and gave it 3 stars. I liked it, but it wasn't a 5 star movie like a lot of folks gave it. Same goes for Blades of Glory. It was somewhat funny, but not a 5 star movie by any means. People should only give 5 stars to real groundbreaking or original movies. On top of that,F4 was never as popular as Spidey, Batman, or Superman in the first place, but the screen adaptation is really weak compared to those franchises. Hollywood needs to get some original stuff back on the screen and not these droll sequels based on comic books made big in the 60's-70's. Last real orginal action movies was Face Off and the original Matrix. There has to be some unexplored territory out there!!!!!! Was this review helpful? Movie must be really cheesy!!!!!! Was this review helpful? THe plot was fairly straight forward with some rather good acting. Folks who go ga ga over it though are overdoing it. I know Frank Miller loves the odd and freakish, but putting this crap in this flick was moronic. Hunchbacks, guys with goatheads, blobs of fat with cleavers sewn into their arms, and last but not least, a 7 foot transvestite type playing Xerxes, is a little over the top. I know folks say it is Hollywood, but reality and history can be actually more entertaining than half ass fantasy. Instead of the crazy stuff, Miller could have had some kick ass naval battle scenes between the Athenian and Persian navies. Thats right folks, while the Spartans were kicking some ass, the Athenian navy under Dimocles was doing the same outnumbered 6-1. Also the back door pass was guarded by 1000 warriors from another small city state, but they ran and fled, thinking the Persians were coming to take their hometown and thus let the Spartans down. In short, history kicks ass in itself and some of the best incidents in history are actually more interesting if they are told from a factual historical perspective. Was this review helpful?
