Supernatural is, by far, my favorite TV show that is currently airing or that ever has aired. There are awesome special effects in every episode. The monsters are frightening, realistic, and the sheer amount of research that has gone into creating these creatures is both astounding and refreshing. Also, the very cute and very talented actors Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles can’t help but give the show a bit of a boost. All these things would make the show better than most on TV, and yet there’s still more. On the surface, Supernatural is a horror show. But once you watch a few episodes, it becomes clear that the show isn’t about scary monsters. It’s about the relationship between the two brothers. Everything comes back to that relationship, making this show about supernatural events seem just as rooted, if not more rooted, in reality as any TV show out there. From the little, seemingly meaningless gestures throughout each episode to the very emotional scenes that have my crying my eyes out, both the writers and the actors capture that brotherly relationship so perfectly. You forget that Jensen and Jared aren’t really brothers. The characters, the relationships, the story lines, and the casting all set Supernatural apart from any other show on television. I think that Supernatural deserves more credit and more publicity than the network seems willing to give it.
